Richard Peter

About Richard

  

Richard “Bear” Peter is a Canadian gold medallist in wheelchair basketball. Born in Duncan, British Columbia, Peter was constantly active in his community and school, where he found his passion in wheelchair basketball. He played professionally for 18 years, having successful careers both in the provincial and national level. Bear has been recognized and awarded with the Indspire award as well as the Tom Longboat award, which recognizes Aboriginal athletes in Canada who have made significant contributions to sport. Bear continuously focuses on giving back to his community, his Cowichan tribe, and mentoring those in the disabled community.
